Episode 4 - To love you more
In the recording studio, Jo Cyborg and Quel are writing a new song.
Jo: "Let's write about us driving freely in a car... uh... Shall we, Quel? Me driving with you by my side?"
Quel: "Hahahaha... Jo..." (Quel blushes, awkwardly). "Not bad... yes! I accept." (She winks at him).
Status: The system loads an old memory, prior to the metal and chaos. A "High School Sweethearts" simulation in a Synthwave world.
The track begins with lush synths and twinkling arpeggios. It is the sound of naive hope.
🚘 The Ride (Verse 1)
Jo and Quel are in the convertible, driving through a city of infinite neon. They are young. They are "dating". But Jo feels the weight of the silence.
🎶 "Your avatar still lingers in my RAM,"
🎶 "A ghost in every neon sign I scan..."
🎶 "I try to reboot all my feelings, But your code is too deeply rooted in my meanings."
Jo (thought): "I did everything right. The right jacket, the right music. I wanted to be her Player 1. But diagnostics showed packet loss."
💔 The Diagnosis (Pre-Chorus)
He tries to ignore the signs. He sees her looking away, distracted. He tries to delete the doubt.
🎶 "I ran diagnostics through the pain,"
🎶 "Deleted all the 'what ifs' and 'maybe' inside my brain..."
🎶 "But my system refuses to accept, This empty space where you have slept."
💋 The Error Kiss (Chorus)
The car stops. Rain falls, reflecting pink and blue neon. Jo holds Quel's face. He needs to prove it's real. They kiss.
It is a desperate kiss on his part. But on hers... it is an apology.
🎶 "I WANT TO LOVE YOU MORE!"
🎶 "Than these glitchy algorithms allow..."
🎶 "I WANT TO LOVE YOU MORE! But you are just a shadow in my cloud."
📉 Encryption Failure (Verse 2)
She pulls away gently. The kiss ends. Jo sees it in her eyes: she didn't feel the same electric shock. The goodbye message was already written.
🎶 "Your last message floats in my cache, 'Goodbye.exe' in 8-bit ash..."
🎶 "Rewrote every memory, Compressed them into perfect lies..."
🎶 "But encryption is failing, And your face still fills my eyes."
💾 Update Failed (Outro)
The world around them begins to "glitch". The neon flickers and dies. Adolescence is over. Reality hurts.
🎶 "(Loving you...) Maybe in an update, We would have worked out..."
🎶 "(Loving you...) But our connection timed out, And the world keeps spinning about."
🎶 "I... WANT... TO LOVE... YOU... MORE..."
Jo opens his eyes as if waking from a world where he would be happy... with Quel... with no cache errors, no friendzone.
Jo (today, whispering in the studio): "I tried to love you for both of us, Quel. But my processor burned out."
Quel: "I didn't stop you from loving me, Jo, but I love you… as my best friend. You are my greatest source of inspiration. Without your compositions, I am nothing... I admire you so much."
Jo feels his heart pound, a mix of love and destruction. He sighs deeply, forcing a smile into the system.
Jo: "I know... Want a new song? I already have the composition... 😉"
Quel: "Oh yeah??? Tell me!! Which one?? 😀"
Jo: "I Wanna Be With You."
