The Glitch in the Dream
The Day After: The studio is bathed in lilac light and dry ice smoke. Jo hasn't slept. After hearing that he is just the "best friend," he didn't argue. He just coded. He built a Wall of Sound to drown out reality.
"Jo... crazy for Quel. She... not so much."
🌫️ Sonic Denial (Intro)
The track starts slowly, like waking up inside a lucid dream. The guitars don't "attack," they float. Jo looks at Quel through the booth glass, but he doesn't focus on her. He focuses on the idea of her.
🎶 "Your eyes are constellations in slow motion,"
🎶 "I get lost in your shimmering blur..."
🎶 "The world outside is a dull movie, When you pull me into your universe of color."
Quel (on the sofa, listening): She closes her eyes and smiles, swaying her head. She thinks the music is just "poetic." She doesn't realize it's a cry for help.
⚓ The Weight of Time (Verse 2)
Jo cranks up the reverb. He wants this moment to last forever, frozen in time, where he doesn't have to be just the friend.
🎶 "I know time is a thief,"
🎶 "But it steals everything—except us in this room..."
🎶 "If tomorrow is a failure, Throw me off a cliff."
♾️ The Glitch Mantra (Chorus)
His voice loops, multiplied by delay effects. It's not a request; it's an obsession repeated until it becomes truth.
🎶 "I WANT TO BE WITH YOU! Until the sun turns to dust..."
🎶 "I WANT TO BE WITH YOU! Even if the end of the world never comes!"
[SYSTEM OVERRIDE]: The studio reality disappears. For three seconds, Jo isn't sitting in the chair. In his mind's render, he is floating in a pink void. Their foreheads touch. Her breath is pure oxygen. He kisses her — not as a friend, but as the only anchor stopping him from being deleted.
👾 The Perfect Error (Bridge)
He opens his eyes. The kiss never happened. It was just a glitch in the render.
🎶 "We fit together like a glitch in a dream,"
🎶 "—Imperfect, but too beautiful."
The song ends in a long fade-out, leaving only an electric hum in the air.
Quel (opens eyes, enchanted): "Jo... that's beautiful! It's so... ethereal. It feels like we're floating in space."
Jo (takes off headphones, hopeful): "Did you feel it? What the lyrics say... did you feel it?"
Quel: "I felt it! It's about eternal friendship, right? About how our musical connection survives any apocalypse. Wow, the fans are gonna love this cosmic 'best friends forever' vibe!"
(The sound of glass cracking is heard. Not in the studio. But inside Jo's chest.)
Jo (dead voice): "Yeah... cosmic friendship. Exactly."
